Consider A Flu Shot For Your Car Interior

Fair enough, you’re the tidy type who never brings food or trash into your car. Your car looks pretty clean, especially after it gets washed and vacuumed. However there are germs you can’t see.

Let's Retrace Your Steps

Your feet have been on a journey. Think back to your last trip to your favorite restaurant, or even that quick pit stop at the local gas station. Throughout, the restaurant floor has food and drink spills that only received light cleaning.  You made a run to the restroom. No need to explain what' happen in any restroom. Your feet have been standing in some pretty gross stuff. Right? needless to say, all that dirt and bacteria transferred from your shoes to your car floor mats and pedals. Wait! There is more.

The Study

Studies have shown that millions of germs, fungi, and bacteria, including mold and E.coli are very likely hitching a ride in your car. Microbiologist Anthony Hilton from Ashton University tested car interiors. He found, on average, 285 types of bacteria per square inch present in the vehicles. Steering wheels, gear levers and trunk carpets were the worst offenders. The contain as much as 300 to 400 bacteria per square inch. “Our study found organisms in a car that are not uncommon to be found around a toilet. Today’s car has become more of an extension of the domestic environment — where people eat and drink and talk on the phone. It’s like a room of your house on wheels," said Hilton.  Don't forget Fido goes for a ride in your car. Dogs seem to get into things wet can't detect. The study found fecal matter traces from pets too!

The Solution

Unsure what you can do? Have your car interior detailed. Get it professionally steam cleaned by a trained and certified detailer. The process combines specialized cleaning products with proven techniques and an industrial-grade dry vapor steam machine. Your car will not only look clean. It will be sanitized as well.

European Vapor Steam

The vapor steam machines super-hot steam reaches temperatures above 200° F. The steam kills microorganisms on contact. As a result, your car's interior is getting sanitized during the cleaning process. This strong cleaning power uses extremely low water content. Therefore the carpets and upholstery don’t absorb a large volume of water once the cleaning process is over. This shortens the drying process.

Car Interior Vaccination

At least once a year, deep clean and sanitize your car interior at least once a year. In between deep cleaning, you should wash and vacuum the vehicle weekly or biweekly. With that you can disinfect the surfaces with car interior wipes. This regimen helps reduce germs in your car preventing the spread of cold and flu viruses, or something worse! A final note, clean up up any spills immediately. The longer they linger they become harder to clean and may pose a potential bio-hazard. Dr. Hilton warned, "Those who eat in their cars should treat it as an extension of their home and maintain the same levels of hygiene as they would in their dining room."
